La Liga
The double round-robin format is employed in La Liga, where each team plays the others twice, once at their home stadium and the other at their opposition’s. The league is contested by a total of 20 teams in a season. And thus each team plays a total of 38 games. The season spans from September to June. A points system is employed where the winning team is awarded 3 points; 1 point is awarded to each team in case of a draw and no points are given to the losing team. Team rankings in the league are determined by the points they score, and the team which stays at the top of the charts by the end of the season wins the championship. In case of a tie in the number of points scored by the teams, head-to-head results determine the placement. The first tie breaker used, in case of a tie in terms of points, is the goal difference between resulting from the two matches between the teams in question. When more than 2 teams are tied, the point accumulated by the teams from the matches played among them decides their placement, the goal difference is also considered if necessary. If head-to-head results aren’t sufficient to separate the teams then, goal difference and goals scored throughout the season may be considered. The La Liga follows a promotion and relegation system where the 3 lowest ranked teams in the Liga by the end of the season are replaced by top ranked teams from the Second Division.
Recent statistics show that La Liga is the 3rd most attended professional football league in the world. La Liga boasts of lucrative clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona etc. and hence is never short of star players which undoubtedly make it one of the most entertaining leagues in the world of professional football.

New at poker
It is time for me to learn how to play poker. I have several friends that have done it for years and tried to make me interested, but I have never really given it a try.
Yesterday, however, I decided to give it a go and see if I could impress anyone. We all met up at a friends place in the suburbs, took a seat at the poker table and put 10$ each in the pot. I don’t know if it was because I had a lot of luck or if I actually performed well – but somehow I managed to score time and again. The others blamed it on beginner’s luck, of course, but I’d like to state that this was just skill.
And I actually beat them, one by one. In the end, when it was just me and a friend left, my hand wasn’t particularly good. Fact of the matter was that I wasn’t holding anything, and my mate looked calm in a way that disturbed me. The others had started taking interest in other things, but between us it was deadly serious. For him, in particular, since he didn’t want to lose against someone who had a lot less experience than himself. Just in the end, I got two sevens, and since I was already holding one I knew that I could already start bottling up the champagne. I could barely keep my joy to myself. The whole thing ended with me winning the whole pot, and also beating all of my friends, who had more experience than I.
Not bad for a first-timer!
Now I have decided to try to learn the “science” in online poker, to see if I am as successful there. It is a bit different, I know that. One of my friends only plays online, and he has scored hundreds and hundreds of dollars. It took him some time to learn the techniques and which poker rooms suited him and so on. But once you start to manage all that, there is a chance that you’ll be so good that you can make a living from your gambling! At least to a certain extent.
And even if I don’t get better than this at poker or online games, I still had a nice evening. Hopefully there are more to come.

Bad weather, party and poker
I am throwing a party on Saturday, which I’ve prepared for weeks and invited thirty people to. My apartment is really small, but luckily enough I have a little yard where guests can go out and smoke and cool down. The problem is that I now, after many enthusiastic visits to different weather sites, have realized that it will probably be really bad weather. And I am not talking cloudy here, it will pretty much be storm, with minus degrees. Fine, people could stand outside if it was just chilly or dark, but if it is really windy and rains, than it is really not a good idea any longer. And it doesn’t matter how great music you play or how tasty your food is. My apartment simply is too small for thirty people to fit in it, so I had no idea what to do. First I thought that I had to cancel, or postpone, the party. But I think that there is a fair risk that I will never throw the party in that case, and that would really be disappointing for everyone. The last days I have given this a lot of thoughts, and checked several different alternatives when it comes to warmth. It is possible to buy and infra heater rather cheap, but the electrical bills would go up the roof. It is also possible to buy a party tent, but it feels a bit too expensive if I am just going to use it for a few hours.
Finally I just stopped thinking about the whole ordeal and started playing online poker instead. It always pushes away bad thoughts. I didn’t win more than I lost at Texas Hold’em, but at the stud poker it was easier. I won about $100. Despite of that I gave up early, and when it was time to sleep I still hadn’t poker in my head, but the party.
Today I have decided that it just has to be crowded. There is a small chance that the weather gets better than what the meteorologists now claim, and if not, then I guess that everybody will have to stand up or leave at the door. The most important thing is that I look forward to the party with expectation, not concern.
And that $100 I won in poker… Maybe they can come in handy when it is time to bulk up the wine storage for the party. Logically, the guests will be less bothered by the crowding if they’ve gotten a welcome drink, right?

World Series of Poker
It started of with Nick the Greek coming to Las Vegas and wanting to play the biggest poker game ever to be made. He asked Benny Binion if he could set him up with it. He would do it if it would go in front of the public, they agreed. Johnny Moss was going to play against him. The game lasted for 5 months and the only pauses were to sleep and eat and the final winner was Johnny Moss to win with 2 million dollar.
